A bstract : Flow cytometry was used to separate Xenopus melanotrope cells according to their size. The cells were then submitted to real‐time RT‐PCR to determine the level of POMC‐gene expression. The results show a positive correlation between cell size and gene expression for cells from black‐background (but not white‐background) adapted animals.
