Expression of members of the conventional protein kinase C (cPKC) family in the differentiation of mouse neural stem cells (NSCs) induced by pituitary adenylate cyclase‐activating polypeptide (PACAP) was investigated. In particular, expression of the α and β subtypes of cPKC in NSCs was observed. In response to activation by PACAP, cPKCβ transiently increased twofold by day 2 and returned to basal levels by day 4, suggesting that cPKCβ might be responsible for the differentiation process.
