A bstract : Our objective was to compare lipid profiles of schizophrenic patients treated with conventional antipsychotics or risperidone to those of patients switched to olanzapine. Our results indicate that in patients switched to olanzapine, fasting serum lipids initially increased then returned to pretreatment levels, and endpoint lipid levels were not significantly different from those in patients remaining on conventional antipsychotics or risperidone.
