A bstract : The redox environment of the cell is now thought to be extremely important to control the activity of many proteins. During apoptosis, the intracellular redox potential (E h ) becomes more positive, with possible consequences for the mechanisms of apoptosis. Glutathione and cytochrome c might both influence and be influenced by the cellular redox environment and therefore be important in the progression of apoptosis.
