Geophysical professionals ask SEG to help provide opportunities that will advance their careers. This request is fulfilled in part through publications, courses, lectures, workshops, and conferences, but there is also high demand for “hands-on” learning from early-career professionals and mid-career geophysicists wishing to expand their capabilities. SEG is evaluating the potential for enabling “off-the-job” experiential learning in applied geophysics. I hope you will consider the points raised in the following article and contact me ( billabriel@yahoo.com ) with your thoughts and suggestions.
