It is now clear that the American conservative movement can nolonger be easily categorized as “hawkish” on foreign policy. This essay examines thedifferent perspectives, ranging from intellectuals and experts to grassrootsconservatives and popular political culture, to grasp the widening range of foreignpolicy preferences that currently make up the conservative movement (or conservative bigtent). Second, this essay considers the challenges that these hawks, mainly theneoconservatives, are likely to face due to the realities of generational politics.
