The study of why a fundraising professional would choose to leavehis or her employer is critical to the ongoing success of religiously based nonprofitorganizations as they work to achieve their mission. Without continuity in the donorrelationship, donors will likely leave the organization or become disenfranchised. Thisstudy focuses on development professionals at Seventh-Day Adventist institutions acrossNorth America. The results of this study are applicable to other religiously basednonprofit organizations. The present article reveals the reasons affecting employeeretention and proposes approaches to mitigate the loss of valuable employees. Data weregathered using a structured online survey and analyzed for its descriptiveoutcomes
