Historically, assessments of the college experiences of students conclude that education produces pervasive and enduring effects on knowledge, receptivity to knowledge, and on job satisfaction. A study of university student growth on core concepts related to home economics content showed a significant difference by major. Recommendations include a reevaluation of a common core and further use of the concept of self‐efficacy as a means of measuring capabilities.
