Perceived types of clothing problems of 101 Mexican American migrant women in relation to their demographic characteristics were investigated for educational purposes. Two steps were utilized in the construction of the instrument: (1) developing a universe of clothing problems of low‐income families, and (2) establishing content validity of the items. Personal interviews were conducted throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance. The study revealed that scores on types of clothing problems showed significant relationships on one or more of five characteristics of the sample: age, education, ability to speak English, classes in textiles and clothing, and years in agriculture. The results also indicated that migrant women seldom perceived themselves to have encountered the clothing problems.
