Home Economics graduates were surveyed to determine the relationships between preprofessional student activity and later education and professional affiliation, leader ship, and recognition. Undergraduate participation and recognition were related to beginning graduate school but not to finishing it. Finishing graduate school was more strongly predicted by exogenous variables like mobility and undergraduate recognition other than that provided by the home economics related student organizations. Later professional participation was predicted by student participation, though there were large sub‐area differences. Student leadership was a good predictor of later leadership and later professional recognition.
