Shoplifting is one of the fastest growing crimes against property in the United States. This shoplifting curriculum unit was developed and tested in secondary schools. The study was performed to evaluate the effect on knowledge gain and attitude change of students who received in‐school instruction about shoplifting. The kits have been utilized in grade schools and sixth grade centers in the Austin Independent School District (Austin, Texas) to determine the effects of such valuing instruction on younger students.
