A total of 252 homemakers responded to 86 planning behavior statements. They indicated how much like their own or their family's planning they perceived each statement to be, using a five‐point Likert‐type scale with choices ranging from Exactly Like to Not Like. Factor analysis was used to determine whether or not hypothesized characteristics of morphostatic and morphogenic behavior could be substantiated. Five of the eight factors appeared to be useful in identifying dimensions on which the two characteristics might be differentiated. The hypothesized categories of characteristics did not separate out into factors.
