At a meeting in Detroit, June 27,1972 the RESEARCH JOURNAL advisory committee, editorial board, and editor decided that priority should be given to obtaining original research papers of high quality and that abstracts should not be included at the present time. The report adapted here served as a basis for the decision and was presented and approved at the Research Section meeting. Factors considered included the number of existing abstract journals of interest to home economists, audiences and functions of such journals, sources of materials to be abstracted, and needs in terms of personnel and money.
