Management Development is a much discussed issue but many companies have been unsuccessful in its implementation. The job evaluation system ‘Evaluation Matrix’, Provides a central focus for management development in meeting organisational objectives. The positive contribution of evaluation workshops provides management with an effective reward system, a basis for developing an integrated approach to management development and a forum to identify and resolve organisational issues inhibiting effectiveness. The Evaluation system is designed to facilitate organisation development by concensus. As the system itself does not dominate, discussion and debate focus on the tasks to be achieved. Evaluation Matrix impacts directly on bottom line results by the system being defined in operational terms and adjusted to individual company needs. The benefits on implementation include position clarification leading to establishment of key accountabilities and objectives and employee motivation. Further advantages include identification of opportunities for role integration thus releasing staff for transfer to growth areas, more effective succession and career planning, team development and improved communications. Evaluation Matrix contributes to the pursuit of organisational excellence.
