Thirty non-syntactic stylostatistical measures of language performance were used , in an attempt to differentiate psychiatric patients. Only 5 of these measures showed discriminatory ability; schizophrenics reliably displayed longer words and more variability in word length and neurotics showed a paucity of usage vocabulary size.
