The flourishing of Heian period monogatari literature points to the appearance of Japanese narrative writing in kana, and to the upbringing of the fiction as narratives start and aim to represent aspects of Heian society. Taketori Monogatari, considered the s “ancestor”, is the first narrative that indicates aspects of that time reality and alludes to the impossibility of the fantasy.
