The Japanese zen painting, better known as , is largely diffused in non-Asiatic countries, including Brazil. But few people know its non-figurative version. Semiotical analysis of Bankei’s painting was made, comparing to Hakuin s and Ungo’s, in order to show the principles of abstract zen painting, its abstraction and the values that are on stake.
