Differentiation between benign and malignant subepithelial lesions (SELs) in the upper gastrointestinal tract (UGT) leads to far-reaching clinical consequences. An accurate diagnosis can be challenging because of the insufficient diagnostic yield of upper endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and different types of biopsy.
