This year, a new international format was introduced for the annual conference of the Veterinary Laboratories Agency, with many different organisations, countries and veterinary sectors being represented. In keeping with the collaborative nature of the event, each of the conference symposia was organised jointly by the VLA and another specialist institute, reflecting the importance of partnership and communication in disease management.
