The Coordination of European Research on Emerging and Major Infectious Diseases of Livestock ( emida ) programme was launched in April as a means of information exchange for organisations funding research. A defra ‐led initiative, it aims to coordinate organisations that fund research into major livestock diseases across 19 countries and to develop a common agenda for them within three years. Grainger Laffan spoke to Dr Alex Morrow, the project's coordinator, to find out more.
