This short communication describes the first isolation of Brucella abortus vaccine strain RB51 from aboted buffalo fetuses. Samples from two aborted buffalo fetuses were tested for the most common infectious agents responsible for abortion in buffaloes both by microbiological as well as molecular biology assays. Colonies morphologically related to Brucella species were isolated and identified as RB51 strain by PCR. These findigs support a role as abortion agent of the vaccine strain RB51 in water buffalo
