Treatment of superficial ulcerative squamous cell carcinoma in three horses with topical 5‐fluorouracil

Three horses with superficial ulcerative squamous cell carcinoma were successfully treated with topical 5‐fluorouracil. Two of them remain in remission after a single course of treatment and the third case is controlled by the application of the cream for seven days every six weeks. No systemic side‐effects were observed but there was a localised inflammatory reaction in the skin in each case.
