VETERINARY practices are used to dealing with clinical emergencies ‐ however, a fire breaking out is an altogether different kind of emergency and one that every practice needs to prepare for. This requires the formulation of a detailed risk assessment, specific to the individual practice. Phil Hyde discusses some of the issues that need to be considered, focusing on what can be done to prevent fire, and what should and should not be done if a fire occurs.
