THIS final article in the series outlines a step‐by‐step approach to interpreting electrocardiograms (ECGs) and describes the significance of the various P‐QRS‐T morphologies which may be seen on a trace. It concludes by providing practical guidance on recording an ECG and outlines the measures that can be taken to reduce artefacts on ECG traces. The first two articles in this series reviewed the electrical activity of the heart (Martin 2002a) and described the abnormalities associated with the conduction system of the heart (Martin 2002b).
