THE concept of tendering for professional services is one which is now fairly common throughout the public sector. Vets are increasingly likely to have to submit tenders for any work they wish to perform outside the day‐to‐day routine of practice, for example, meat hygiene work, and inspection of riding establishments or pet shops. This article, produced by the BVA, summarises the key points that should be taken into account before a decision is made to submit a tender and gives advice on putting a tender together.
