LEVERAGING is a relatively new concept in UK veterinary practice, although leveraging support staff is a management tool which has been used for a number of years by veterinary practices in the USA. It has also been used in the UK in a variety of different guises outside veterinary practice. One of the dictionary definitions of leveraging is Oa means of accomplishing a purpose' which, as Ray Girotti explains in this article, could be more efficient working practices or increased profitability. Leveraging also offers veterinary practices a new way of thinking about their staff.
