THIS article discusses the topical ectoparasiticidal, antimicrobial and anti‐inflammatory preparations currently available in the UK for canine and feline dermatological therapy and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of each. The benefits and potential problems associated with the use of shampoo therapy in the dog and cat were discussed in an earlier article (Curtis 1998).
