TECHNIQUES for the collection of blood from donor dogs and cats were described in the last issue in the first part of this article (pp 110‐114). Here, the indications for blood transfusions are reviewed and the safe administration of blood and blood products discussed. The recognition and management of transfusion reactions is also addressed.
