OVER the past 20 years there has been a great deal of progress in the treatment of cancer in animals and radiation therapy has an important role to play in this treatment. By combining direct antineoplastic activity with analgesia, it can afford many patients a much improved quality of life, as well as an extended survival time. This article discusses the principles and practical considerations underlying current radiotherapeutic regimens in small animal medicine.
