IN October 1996, a number of small animal practices in the Cardiff area joined forces to provide a combined emergency service. Although, when it started, the scheme was little more than a hopeful experiment, it is now an established part of life for the practices involved. Here, Phil Hyde explains how the scheme operates, and argues that similar schemes could be introduced elsewhere.
