PROVISION of an out of hours service is one of the most tedious aspects of veterinary practice. The Elizabeth Street Emergency Clinic in London was set up some 15 years ago to provide emergency cover for local practices. Here, Simon Meyer, principal at the clinic, gives a personal account of why emergency clinics have yet to become commonplace in the UK and what benefits they could offer.
