IN an earlier article Martin Barrow discussed the preliminary stages of practice computerisation, from making the commitment to the change through to choosing the right system and supplier (In Practice, September 1995, pp 384– 388). In this article he takes things a stage further. The configuration and installation of the computer system are dealt with, as are the procedures necessary to convert an assortment of equipment and software into an efficient management system of real benefit to the practice.
