OTITIS externa is extremely common among small animals and can be frustrating to manage. Some primary causes of otitis and predisposing and perpetuating factors for the condition were highlighted in an article in the previous issue (pp 9–16). That article also described a simple approach to the investigation of otitis. Here, the medical treatment of otitis externa in dogs and cats is discussed.
