THE most important function in any veterinary practice is the practice of veterinary medicine. The management of practice resources is a critical additional role but it is a separate and supportive one. As veterinary practices grow, however, the management problems become more complex, more exacting and more of a burden. They cannot be ignored and if they are not handled promptly and effectively, the high standards of clinical care which always have been and always will be the hallmark of successful veterinary practices will begin to suffer.
