Endurance riding is a demanding equestrian discipline that has the potential to present attending veterinarians with challenging medical emergencies. An understanding of the conditions likely to be faced and the carriage of appropriate supplies, especially sufficient intravenous fluids, is essential. This article describes the veterinary inspections performed and advises how veterinary practitioners should manage each medical emergency that may be encountered.
