It is not uncommon for equine vets to be asked to examine a horse which is exhibiting headshaking. This article covers my approach to reaching a diagnosis in these cases. I find that trigeminal‐mediated headshaking is often the definitive diagnosis, and the article covers the current published treatment options, highlighting the latest advances.
