This article, the last in a series of three discussing artificial insemination in dogs and cats, aims to provide a comprehensive but practical review of the purpose, techniques and likely outcomes of artificial insemination in cats. The first two articles in the series discussed the benefits of artificial insemination in dogs, explaining how to collect and preserve semen and the practicalities of performing the procedure (In Practice, February 2014, vol 36, pp 77‐84; April 2014, vol 36, pp 183‐190).
