If the Practice Standards Scheme isn't broken, why change it? A perfectly reasonable question – and one that may have crossed the lips of more than one practice manager. The short answer is to keep it up to date and relevant to changes in expectations of the public and veterinary practices. The RCVS reviewed the scheme in 2009. As a result, revised standards were drafted, and these were published last year. In this article, Peter Jinman, RCVS president and chairman of the RCVS Practice Standards Group, highlights the key changes and explains their significance.
