Recurrent diarrhoea is a common presentation in both first‐opinion and referral practice. Diarrhoea can be defined as acute, chronic (lasting two or more weeks) or recurrent (where the problem is episodic with normal periods in between). Recurrent and chronic diarrhoea can be distressing and frustrating for cat, owner and veterinary surgeon alike. This article describes a logical approach to the diagnosis and treatment of recurrent diarrhoea in cats.
