When transporting a client's dog between clinics in their estate car, a vet secures the animal with a lead in the boot, as it is boisterous. On arrival the dog is found dead and looks to have become trapped with the lead round its neck. The noises the dog had been making had seemed to be agitation and when they stopped the vet assumed it had gone to sleep. Should a criminal prosecution be brought against the vet and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons be informed?
