Mycobacterial infections are not commonly recognised in cats and dogs in the UK. However, with improved recognition they are now being diagnosed more frequently, at least in cats. This article discusses the causes of infection, possible clinical signs and methods of diagnosis, and considers the complexities of treatment and potential therapeutic options. It also outlines the prospects for prognosis.
