Disorders of the vagina and external genitalia are uncommon in dogs and cats. While these conditions can be challenging to diagnose and treat, many of them can nevertheless be easily managed in general practice. This article discusses the surgical diseases affecting the vagina and external genitalia of female dogs and cats, and describes the options for treatment. Part 1 of this article, published in the July/August 2010 issue of In Practice (volume 32,pp 292–299), considered surgical diseases of the ovaries and uterus.
