A simple immunodiffusion test for investigation of antibodies against Legionella pneumophila serotype 1 was developed. The comparison between the indirect immunofluorescence assay and the immunodiffusion technique gave a 98.6% correlation. All of the patients studied were serologically diagnosed by both procedures.
