Fecal coliform recoveries were determined for six types of membrane filters using 65 nonchlorinated water samples. Results showed that the membranes could be ranked in order of decreasing recovery as follows: Millipore HC > Gelman > Johns-Manville ∼ Sartorius > Millipore HA > Schleicher & Schuell.
