A number of plastics and metals were tested for their compatibility with the algaeSynechococcus lividus andChlorella pyrenoidosa strain TX71105 in a nitrate medium at pH 7.5. Plastics in general were not inhibitory. Of the metals tested, copper and some of its alloys inhibited growth. Other copper alloys did not. Seven aluminum alloys were entirely compatible.
