Twenty-one neonatal respiratory isolates ofUreaplasma urealyticum were serotyped, and their susceptibilities to ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, azithromycin, and doxycycline were tested. Most patient strains wereUreaplasma urealyticum bv. parvum. Chloramphenicol, doxycycline, and azithromycin had the lowest MICs. This data may be useful when designing prophylactic or therapeutic trials of antibiotics for chronic lung disease of the newborn.
