In 2018, the FDA approved plazomicin for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI) including pyelonephritis in adult patients with limited or no alternative treatment options. The objective of this article is to provide the scientific rationales behind the recommended dosage regimen and therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of plazomicin in cUTI patients with renal impairment.
