Purpose: The aim of this work is the selection of the optimal algorithm of brachytherapy for prostate cancer under control of computer tomography (CT), to reduce CT effective dose received by the patient during the procedure, while maintaining the quality of the treatment. Methods: Estimation of effective dose was carried out by using the DLP. Results: Derating of the X‐ray tube for 10% of the effective dose is reduced by almost 50%, a further reduction of parameters increases the noise in the image, which is unacceptable for the visualization of critical organs during brachytherapy. Conclusion: It is shown that with the right approach to the planning and implementation of brachytherapy for prostate cancer under control of computer tomography is possible to reduce the effective dose of X‐rays up to 50%. This capability reduces the risk of long‐term effects, and improves the quality medical services. Based on data from the study formed a specialized protocol of brachytherapy for prostate cancer.
