Historically optimization of screen‐film mammography has been constrained by the narrow latitude of film but that limitation is removed for new digital receptor‐based imaging systems which exhibit a high detection efficiency and wide dynamic range thus requiring new approaches for optimization of technical factors impacting image quality and dose. In this presentation we will review the impact of various technical parameters in digital mammography and methods employed for the assessment of optimal technique. Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the factors that impact image quality and dose in digital mammography 2. Learn methods to implement or verify technique factors for digital mammography systems.
