Optimization techniques have found their way into radiation treatment planning with the advent of IMRT. Since then, medical physicists and operations researchers (optimization experts) have begun to collaborate more closely and tackled various optimization problems in our field. This symposium will present recent advances and challenges at this interface between medical physics and operations research.
